6. The spirits have recognized your Tokota's worth - unfortunately, this includes the darker spirits as well as the benevolent. Will your Tokota be tempted by the call of dark forces, or spurn them for the light?

---

    Static.

He was not sure what that was, or if it had ever meant something, but a voice somewhere – a woman’s – had said it once, and he was sure that what he was doing – now – was static. It had something to do with the word anyways, and it had for a long time.

He was used to noises in the forest. They were there, but they were to be ignored . He made some of them, and other animals made others, and the noises were constant and all equally banal. His head was down, following East in a straight trail. Other animals cut paths around the woods in messy tracks, but his pawprints formed a straight line, and always in the same direction.

He was used to noises in the forest, and it was the sudden quiet that startled him.

The absence of noise signaled a destination – a calm before the noises started up again, and he would turn to amble towards the next one. He never ran any more. He must have, once, he was certain, but he was unsure why he’d ever had to. When all creatures in the path ahead have cleared out of the way for you, long ahead of time, each serving their role to feed you, running becomes pointless, after all.

Staring up at him was the same thing as always, a black wolf with yellow eyes, her front paws resting on the base of an old human God, long forgotten, tall, unkempt.

“Koan,” her voice was low, a half-whisper, “Don’t follow, please.”

She turned to face the ground, smelling something he did not.

---

He woke up, and immediately righted himself. Back on all four legs. Awaiting direction.

He was surrounded by the discarded remnants of a kill – no doubt the work of a bear or a starving, loose dog – unrecognizable as anything that used to breathe, uneven slices of dark red matter. Fur. Fabric. Anything. All.

The wolf was gone, like usual, and towering over the absence of the wolf, the metal-hearted pillar God. She probably would have liked to eat whatever this was, but she always left before dinnertime, but it didn’t matter now.

He could see the eyes of the God burning from within, a hundred wooden capillaries winding within, engulfing the steel rod where its heart should have been.

He could see it looking North, gesturing with red eyes for him to walk infinitely in a new direction, until he would meet another such God, who would point him a different way, to a different black she-wolf, who would always say the same thing, and wonder how he was doing, and tell him how she was just too old to change him, and he too old to lead on as he used to.

The black wolf never followed him anymore, but she was always there when he arrived at the next God, and he was sure that this time - just as he was sure of all other times before it – she would have something new to say.

The wooden Gods, a thousand of them and more to be found, all shared the same name.

    Koan.

Wanted a really simple feel for this quick passage, and lo and behold, Wordcounter said "7-8th grade" reading level. Success?
(Then again, if you enter words for certain body parts 20 times in a row, it claims this to be at a "College Graduate" level, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the algorithm used is of questionable trustworthiness.)

More moody and experimental than the other two.

So yeah. Koan 11035's  story isn't over here, but it's not going to be quite what I originally thought it would be. In fact, none of this is, because I can hardly make up my mind, and am simply trying to process things here and there with each of these.

Man, this is so cool! The eerie, almost cold feeling the picture gives off is amazing. The light filtering in really hits it home, too. The glowing eyes of Koan and the pillar in the background give off that same great, piercing atmosphere. :> I also love the detail of the plants in the foreground, they look so nice and the colors really work wonderfully with Koan's.

Thank you!

(I actually think that detail-wise, it's the muddiest/blurriest of the three PotA prompts, but in this case, I think it works for it a bit.)
